Not All Association Improvements Are Additive

not-all-association-improvements-are-additive

When we contemplate improvements we usually think about adding things:

  • A new bit of technology
  • A new experience at the conference
  • More manpower, more money and more time

An equally important exercise, although rarely done at most organizations including associations, is taking things away or simplifying:

  • Sunsetting underperforming offerings
  • Revisiting and trashing policies that no longer make sense
  • Paring down the newsletter so it can be read in 5 minutes, no make that 3 minutes

What can you take away?

Related:

  • Association change doesn’t come without practice
  • Worried about discontinuing a member benefit?
  • A recipe for frustration: being asked to change while not being allowed to change
