About 10 years ago, I went to my first solopreneur’s conference. A carefully written series of super friendly emails made me feel prepared and excited. However, even so, on the morning of Day 1, I was still slightly anxious about meeting my 600 new besties. That anxiety left the moment I parked my car.
Right at the edge of the parking lot, there was a team of welcomers who were cheering, dancing, and welcoming each one of us. One welcomer broke off from the group and escorted me and my luggage to reception. After registering, I stashed my stuff and headed back out, where I found a bunch of activities to do where I could meet and chat with the other attendees.
Even before one speaker took the stage or a single workshop started, the conference seemed special, full of possibility, adventure, good ideas, and friends I hadn’t yet met.
How might we capture this feeling for our virtual attendees?
