It is not that we don’t want to think strategically. It’s not that we can’t carve out the time. It’s that we first need to give ourselves permission to think strategically.
So many leadership skills require patience. We commit to projects that span years. Meaningful work cannot be quick or thoughtless. We need patience.
Rapid change makes it more imperative for us to be creative, connected and strategic leaders. But changes in technology, culture and expectations are making harder and harder to do that.
