A conference that typically draws over 20,000 in-person attendees a year just announced their keynote speakers. I could not help but notice that of the seven speakers listed, only one was a woman.
Professional women still do a disproportional amount of childcare, making it hard to travel and, therefore, difficult to speak, but now the travel constraint is gone.
Hopefully, virtual conferences will level the playing field for speakers. People we have not heard before with something important to say can step forward.
Have women, industry innovators, busy members, or young professionals been unable to attend your in-person conferences? Perhaps you can help them become a content leader during your virtual meeting.
