Resilience in Our Associations

Resilience

Associations are no longer a place to hide, if they ever were.

Now everyone in every role needs to prepare for change, accept change and maybe even bring about change.

External forces are ensuring that organizations can’t thrive by maintaining the status quo, or even survive.

Each and every association is feeling the pressure. In the face of such swift and powerful pressure no one knows what to do. Not our members, not our board, not the staff, not us.

Some efforts will be a success. Many may not get the resounding response we hoped for. Some may be crashing failures.

We need need staff with a great deal of built in resilience. We need to build cultures of resilience. We need to hire and cultivate resilience in our associations today.

Yes, look for communication skills and creative skills. Also look for the ability to lead and the ability to work in teams. And now start looking for resilience in your new hires.
