Have you ever noticed that the most famous brands, biggest companies and industry celebrities get the most play in many associations? We confuse success or money or power for expertise. Or we, perhaps wrongly, assume that those who are successful, regardless the size of the organization, have the right answers for us. Most of the time, however, it is hard to implement and adapt and even make sense of the best practices from these giants.
Instead, what members need is not necessarily someone who has all the answers but instead someone who is similar to them, on the same path as they are and who is one or two steps ahead. A friendly, sharing peer who not only shows them how to do it but, more importantly, shows them it can be done.
