Sometimes I have to trick my mind into doing the right things. I tell myself:
Long, difficult projects are “an interesting adventure.”
Losing weight and meeting my exercise goals is a “positive challenge.”
Writing is an “intellectual exploration.”
Climbing this 6000′ mountain wasn’t a grueling slog (well, it was a bit of that), but more a fantastic opportunity to experience incredible views, see an alpine landscape and do something unique.
You might be thinking that this is just a brain game. You are right. Intentionally reframing or picking more positive framing for challenging objectives is a brain game, but it works.
