Member Benefits Take a Back Seat to Member Experiences

What is it like to be a member? Many members say they feel a warm sense of belonging. Engaged members talk about the sense of community where colleagues are supportive, understanding, and generous. Members also feel valued because they give to the community. Their peers respect their skills and expertise. They equate their membership to being part of a family, “this is my professional home,” they say.  Many members feel a part of something bigger than themselves.

When people share their member experience, I’m struck by how little they talk about their benefits. Most often, they talk about their feelings. Value is necessary, but so is cultivating exceptional member experiences.
