The Secret Characteristic of Successful Association Staff Teams

It is easy to get tunnel vision, but there’s no one right way to solve complex problems at our associations. Rather the environment that we work in is moving so fast it is far better to have many options.

Flexibility and creativity are the characteristics of staff teams pushing their organizations into the future. Far less talked about but just as important is resilience.

Resilience helps us continue a major project even after we encounter some embarrassing bumps.

Resilience helps us get started even when we only have the first step identified.

Resilience helps us map a new plan when the current one no longer works.

Resilience helps us change our minds when others are right.

Hire resilient staff. Nurture resilience in the culture by establishing safety. Celebrate resilience when you see it.
