We are sitting around the conference table having the same conversation we always have. There’s a major problem for which there is no good solution. The same solutions are each brought up and reviewed and discarded because the solutions are just to painful to consider. So the problem continues to be a problem.
We spend time and mental energy discussing the problem but all that time and energy is wasted because there’s no reasonable solutions.
When we are too close to the problem we tend to narrow our thinking. The trick is to broaden our thinking and develop many more reasonable solutions to add to the discussion. Here are some ideas:
- Have dialogue/brainstorm with a trusted person from the outside: outside your staff or outside your industry.
- Find other like associations and watch what they are doing to solve a similar problem.
- Watch other successful organizations dealing with a similar problem
Shake things up to get your unsolvable problem solved.
