I’m back from hosting nearly 2,000 customers, vendors and speakers at our annual conference. This was an unusual conference for me because I was one of the staff that our customers were seeking out (usually I’m just one of the busy behind-the-scenes workers).
But this year was different, in the last few months I’ve conducted over fifty-five hour-long member interviews, personally scheduled forty-five video interviews and I am one of the voices in our social media outreach. So instead of remaining busy, but anonymous, there were actually some attendees hoping to me. At this conference often heard “so you are The Marketing Amanda?” which is kind of a funny but, after hearing it a few times I’m considering it my new title!
The key learning for me – people are hungry for connections. They want to put a face with the name. Social media, phone and email connections are not enough. When there’s a way to meet personally – that’s so much better.
